From the very beginning of Campaign 4, new Dungeon Master Brennan Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with rich lore, a colorful mix of heroes, and a gripping narrative including celestial beings, fiends, and malevolent powers expanding in strength within the urban setting.
Warning: Key plot points for the latest installment of this adventure lie ahead.
The Warrior Group Unveiled
Episode 3 finished on a dramatic pause and revealed the initial group of adventurers who will split off from the main group to embark on their separate journey, distinct from the additional parties.
The Soldiers table consists of Teor (brought to life by the voice actor), Thimble (Laura), Tyranny (Whitney), Wicander Halovar (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie Daymond).
Why Split the Party?
Given an extensive roster, it was evident from the start that keeping everyone at the same party would be unfeasible.
That’s why, the first four episodes of Campaign 4 serve as an Introduction, weaving together the personal journeys before dividing into three smaller tables: Fighters, Strategists, and Explorers.
What Defines the Soldiers Table
Per the DM, the Soldiers table is for participants who enjoy a typically action-packed combat and conflict-driven gameplay experience where non-violent answers are rare.
At first glance, figures such as the squeamish cleric Wicander might appear mismatched, but the developments of the latest installment make it clear why these particular heroes are perfectly fit for the combat party.
Why They Must Go
First, the party has a clear idea where to head next after a brutal initial meeting with The Crow Keepers.
Casimir of Thjazi Fang—whose death initiated the story’s plot—manipulated The Crow Keepers for his personal gain, invading the secret base, attacking the rogue, and swiping all the magical artifacts to dispose of.
The antagonist then paid off his debts and escaped to a fortified location in Gormalay, Timmony, above the urban center, with Cyd pursuing him.
Personal Motivations
Additionally, each adventurer has a specific drive to depart the urban setting:
- The agile hero, as Thjazi’s partner and trusted friend, wants revenge.
- The adventurer knows Timmony and advises that it is a nasty place.
- The strong character and Wicander, having defied his house’s orders to eliminate the fighter and instead saved him, have nowhere else to go.
- But, their status as important members in the influential clan could enable the party access places they usually can’t.
- Moreover, The grateful character vowed a life debt to The cleric for his salvation and will now go with him everywhere.
Pursued by Authorities
In addition, all of them are hunted by the powers that govern the city for a variety of reasons, making lingering locally too risky:
- The agile adventurer and The character are known criminals.
- The strong figure and The healer betrayed the influential house and the army of fiends they are partnered with.
- Teor is marked for death by the family.
This means them no alternative but to head to Timmony in quest for Casimir.
Future Episodes
From the recent installment’s post-show segment, we learn that the Soldiers table will not appear in the upcoming installment, leaving the remaining eight participants to assemble the Seekers and Strategists tables.
Fans can look forward to learning which players will be in which group in the story’s final introductory chapter, released on next week.
